19th Century Antique Narrow Loom Welsh Tapestry Reversible Blanket
This very rare blanket is in good condition, (see below) and comprises cream, pink and purple colours and an unusual geometric pattern with wide boarders, attributed to the hugely collectable Hannah Jones & Sons.
(I also have an identical pattern Hannah Jones small blanket listed).
Unusually, this blanket has a central seam running up through its length, as can be seen in the 7th photo, showing that it was made on a 40” loom. These smaller looms were used in the home, (cottage industry) and generally stopped being used in the early 1900’s during the industrial revolution, when blankets were then made in mechanised factories with larger looms, making them much cheaper and quicker to produce.
Condition - There are several small <3mm holes around the blanket and two larger holes, one 45mm, (8th photo) the other 20mm, and several areas of slight loss of frills, there is also a couple of small red stains and a larger stain to the boarder.
Measurements 86” X 80”.
These are vintage blankets that have been stored, in some cases, for many years and may have dirty marks and wear commensurate with age and use.
They have not been washed prior to sale, it is never a good idea to wash these antique blankets!
